FRANK
Okay, I'll admit it. I'm dying to see him again. This is the fifth time I'm walking over to the window to check if Leif is pulling up into my driveway yet. For the record, he's not, but my excitement over seeing him again doesn't diminish.
We were supposed to meet yesterday, but I got called into work, as happens on occasion. One of my most reliable coworkers slipped on Legos at home and was diagnosed with a mild concussion. Ouch. I covered her shift yesterday, and others have her back the rest of the week.
But it meant postponing my date with Leif. I know, I know. It's not a date. Technically. Tell that to my heart, though. Ever since I realized what I want to be for him, who I want to be, Iâve been focused on that singular goal. And it's hard to tell myself I shouldn't, knowing that I have reasons to hope. I can offer what Leif needs, and moreover, Leif does seem to be interested in me.
There. That's him. Leif's battered red Toyota rambles into my driveway, narrowly avoiding my mailbox. I shake my head, grinning. Ben once called Leif the worst driver in the world, and apparently, he wasn't kidding. I hurry over to the front door and wait for him when he walks up. The smile he sends me is so sweet and full of hope and trust that my belly does a little flop.
"Hi, Frank," he says, and it comes out with a little squeak at the end that is adorable.
"Hey, princess."
Do I hug him? Do I kiss him? No, I can't kiss him. Our first kiss, even if it's a casual one, shouldn't be out on the street. It should be private. He's had too many public experiences already. But I do want to feel him, and so I open my arms and wait for him to take me up on my invitation. He does, stepping into my embrace and hugging me while letting out a happy little sigh. I hold him close, nuzzling his hair, which smells of peaches.
"I'm really happy to see you again." I've never meant anything more.
When he finally lets go, he looks up at me with those baby blue eyes. "Same. I have lots to tell you."
"Good or bad?" I need to know so I can mentally prepare myself. Another spanking seems too soon, forty-eight hours after the previous one, but if he needs it, I'll give it to him.
"Good. I think. Surprising, maybe. Probably. Sorry, I'm talking in riddles."
"Why don't you come in and weâll take it from there?"
I make us both a cup of tea, and we settle on the couch. To my pleasure, he picks a spot next to me rather than opposite me. In fact, he leaves little room between us, not even using the length of the couch. Does he like being close to me? I can only hope.
"How have you been?" I ask.
"Good. Better than before. The spanking really helped."
"Iâm happy to hear that.
